01 / Items required for measurements

02/ Things to check when taking measurements
- Outlet location and type

Three dimensions to know the best sofa size
01/ Sofa width
THE WIDTH OF A SOFA IS DETERMINED BY THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE USING IT AND THE WAY IT IS USED. THE "2P, 3P" INDICATIONS IN CATALOGS AND THE LIKE ARE ONLY A GUIDE. WHAT YOU SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO IS THE ACTUAL DIMENSIONS. THE WIDTH OF THE SEAT (SPACE FOR SITTING) IS ALSO IMPORTANT. THE WIDTH THAT CAN BE USED DEPENDS ON THE PRESENCE OR ABSENCE OF ARMS AND THE SIZE OF THE ARMS.
The standard width for one person is about 600 mm, and if the seat width is 1800 mm, three people can sit on it. However, 600 mm may seem a little narrow for a comfortable seating. A sofa with a total width of 1,900 mm will have a seat width of 1,580 mm if there are 160 mm wide armrests on both sides.
02/ Depth of sofa
The depth of a sofa is the dimension between the front and back of the sofa. There is also "depth of installation" and "depth of seating". Let's check the advantages and disadvantages of different depths.

03/ Sofa height
There are two heights that are related to comfort and design: floor to seat height and backrest height.
About the height to the seat
Careful consideration should be given to the height of the seat (the actual surface on which you sit), as a seat that is too low will place a greater burden on your back and knees when you stand up. As a rule of thumb, a comfortable seat height is one that allows the knees to sit at about 90 degrees. You can also refer to ergonomic calculations.
Be sure to check not only the actual dimensions, but also the degree of sinkage when you sit down. If the cushion is soft and sinks deeply, the seat surface will be lower, which may put more stress on your back and knees. If you have back pain, please pay attention to this point as well.
About backrest height
There are three types of backrest heights.
1) High-back sofas
It allows you to rest your head on it and reduces strain on your neck. Suitable for watching TV or movies for long periods of time.

Number of people sitting and width of sofa
With fewer opportunities to go out and a comfortable sofa in the living room, the whole family will be relaxing in the living room at the same time of day. This is a theme to consider in preparation for such a time.
For example, if four people are sitting on a sofa, the width required for each person is 600-800 mm, so a side-by-side sofa would require a minimum of 2400 mm and a maximum of 3200 mm for the seating area alone. A sofa of this size is quite large. The space available is also limited. Therefore, by considering how the sofa should ideally be placed, variations can be made in the shape and arrangement of the sofa.

By changing the type, size, and placement of the sofa according to the use and size of the room, one sofa can do multiple jobs.
Confirmation of delivery route
Make sure that the sofa you have chosen and love can be carried in. Measure the size of the room, the opening of the entrance, the turn of the hallway, the common staircase, the landing, and the elevator in advance. It is also a good idea to check the condition of the roads around your house and whether there is enough space to park a truck.
Procedure for checking the delivery route
(1) Check the size of the product to be delivered.

Measure carefully at the protruding parts. Note that if you make a mistake in measuring the height of the beam by even 1 cm, you may not be able to place the furniture. Next, measure the width and height of the furniture you have and want to use in the future, and make a list. Note that the size of drawer handles, decorative parts of legs, etc. may affect the size.

If the size is difficult to carry in (1)
After reading this, do you feel that it would be difficult to make a sofa in the size you want? For such customers, TORES can make a sofa in a disassembled and assembled (knockdown) form. This is for customers who want to install a large size sofa but do not have the space to carry it in, or for those who frequently move to a new place.
There are many cases where a sofa cannot be carried into a room because of a narrow corridor, a corner, a staircase, an obstacle that prevents movement, or a low ceiling, etc. However, by assembling one arm section (or both arm sections), the sofa can be carried into the room without any problem. After assembly, the sofa is covered with the same covering as in the standard version, so the joints are not visible and the finish is beautiful. In terms of strength, the sofas are secured with bolts for construction, so they can be used with peace of mind without any difference from the standard specifications.
For example, if one side arm of sofa [FSB] 3P in Figure 1 is changed to knockdown, the size will be as shown in Figure 2.
The width of 3P is 2400mm and the arm width is 300mm. In case of assembled type, it will be delivered to your home with the arm width of 300 mm + the main body width of 2100 mm for one arm.

If the size is difficult to carry in (2)
It is also possible to carry in through the window instead of assembling. In this case, the method will be either hand-hung or by crane. In this case, however, it is necessary to check the condition of the ground (space for parking, etc.) and the condition of the area around the delivery entrance (strength of the balcony or handrail, size of the window). Also, since it depends on the floor of the building you wish to bring in, you will need to make a decision after thoroughly confirming the situation.
